About Us
I founded Solamp in 2024 because there was a need for accessible solar and energy storage products in New England and beyond. I’ve designed and installed many battery based solar energy systems for myself, friends and family, and having a local place to get my equipment was always a huge benefit. The abrupt absence of a long loved local solar supplier was a shock to many. I’ve set out to make sure our community still has that type of company in their backyard- a place you can go to get the supplies, education and build meaningful relationships with like minded people.
I’ve been lucky to have worked for companies like altE, Kyocera Solar, Panasonic, Qcells and more (you can check out my LinkedIn for more details if you're curious). I’ve been teaching solar and energy storage courses and workshops officially since 2016 and have had the chance to travel the world presenting on this subject. During covid I partnered up with solar guru and certified master trainer Chris LaForge to design and offer online renewable energy courses. I’ve worked on microgrid projects for a monastery in Shi Lanka, a radio station in Madagascar, a research station in the arctic circle, a utility company in the Solomon islands all the way to my shed in my backyard in Acton, Massachusetts. I’m taking these decades of experience and focusing it right onto Solamp to make it the best place to shop for off grid battery based power systems and grid interactive home energy storage technology.
Solamp has opened two locations this year, first in Maynard, MA and most recently we’ve rented out the old altE space in Boxborough. We’ve launched our website, www.solampio.com to provide cleantech products to pro’s, prosumers, and DIY’ers. We understand that you can’t always get a professional installation crew to an island in Maine, a lake in the Adirondacks or sometimes even to that boat docked in Newport. We are here so everyone can access the products that provide power everywhere and anywhere they need it.
The first person I hired at Solamp was my brother Zac. We’re having a ton of fun working together. Our whole (large) family has gotten involved in this wild project. If you come by the shop you’re likely to run into our Mom or Dad, my daughter or one the many other friends and family who are helping to get this dream off the ground. I’m not looking to create another warehouse of commodities- Solamp is a community focused on sustainability and independence. Thanks for checking us out and I hope we can help you with your next solar battery project.
